Te Puoro me te Ao Pāpāho – Exploring the Intersection of Music and Screen.
Presented with the support of NZ On Air
As part of NZ Music Month, this dynamic wānanga brought together screen practitioners and music creatives to explore the powerful relationship between sound and storytelling. Across four sessions, industry experts shared insights into creative collaboration, licensing, and cultural considerations. Highlights included a panel of sector leaders, a licensing overview from APRA, a deep dive into music supervision with Tim Bern (DISCO), a composer-focused showcase with Joel Haines and our Tumu Whakarae, Kay Ellmers. The wānanga was facilitated by the lovely Stacey Morrison. The day ended with kai, whakawhanaungatanga and a special live performance by Nikau Grace and MELODOWNZ.
Our Kaikōrero

Nadia Marsh
Nadia is the Content Manager for Te Māngai Pāhō. While her career background is in commercial radio, Nadia's affinity for music goes back to childhood. An accomplished recorder player and kapa haka guitarist by age 12, her instinct for correctly selecting future singles from teenage album favourites 'CMB' by Color Me Badd and Boyz II Men's 'CooleyHighHarmony' is what set her up in the 90s for success as a programmer for popular Auckland radio station, Mai FM. 25 Years later, and after stints in broadcast tech and content production, Nadia is now back in the music and broadcasting world, and highly motivated about making waiata reo Māori a part of everyday life for all New Zealanders.

Sara Owen
Of Rongowhakaata & Ngāti Porou whakapapa, Sarah grew up in the music industry before making her own mark. Formerly managing the Aotearoa Music Awards on behalf of Recorded Music NZ, she now channels her expertise into event and artist liaison for AMA while also assuming the role of kairangaranga for the Māori Music Industry Coalition - breathing life into the innovative visions they hold for the future of their hapori puoro. She also sits on the Executive Committee for the Music Managers Forum (NZ), supporting the growth and development of music managers and self-managed artists. In her downtime you'll find her at home with her kurī.
